"Tried & True" is an old saying that few people actually know the origins of; it doesn't mean that 'it has been done this way and you know it works'. These are old carpentry terms: "True" means that something was checked with a Plumb Bob and it is dead on (for structures) or a face is dead flat and straight (for furniture); "Tried" is when something is checked against a Try Square and is found to be exactly ninety degrees to plumb (thus, level) and square in the corners. Thus, when something is "tried & true" it has been checked in all three dimensions and it is completely right. That is my fundamental goal, that everything is built properly, accurately and beautifully to last a dozen lifetimes- right here in Georgia.

"It’s my hands that make it, it’s my mind that sees it before it is, but where did they come from? I have 'talent on loan from God', but it is through a glass, dimly. I will never be able to transform something dead into something beautiful like He can. I hope this work will forever be a reminder of His redemptive power.”

I'm a fourth-generation carpenter and woodwright with more than fifteen years of experience, a complete apprenticeship and a wide array of carpentry skills and knowledge. I believe no man is a master of his craft, the knowledge and skills available are more than anyone can know and still growing, but that doesn't mean that I don't strive for learn more, improve my skill and be the best.

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."  Colossians 3:23-24

"Caleb has helped us with several home improvement projects. He does high quality work, has great attention to detail, is always on time and has fair pricing. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any project."

Mrs. Abercrombie

"Caleb did a great job with a remodel of several rooms in our house last year. He was able to understand what we were trying to do even if we could not explain it except to point to a picture ( or several) and say “that’s what we want”. He researched products and materials and made suggestions and offered choices. I know he put in much more effort than anyone else would have and it shows. Everyone who has seen the remodel is amazed at the results and quality of the work. We would not hesitate to call on him for future projects."     Mr. Brod
